2. Introduce Yourself

Do you have your eye on a salon or spa that you have always wanted to work for? Have you wanted to own one just like it?

A great way to give yourself a boost as you earn your beauty school degree is to introduce yourself at those places. Ask them how someone like you becomes part of their business. You may be surprised at their openness and excitement about your goals and your drive to succeed.

We make privately owned salons and spa our target for your placement after graduation. These are the places with great earning potential, and we want you to succeed! Everything we teach is with this goal in mind.

3. Cosmetology School: Level Up

Cosmetology students have levels 1 – 4. Our curriculum has been co-developed with Redken, and we’re constantly updating it with ongoing collaboration. Push yourself to jump levels during school to give yourself the best opportunity to up your future right after graduation!

We celebrate achievements at TSPA! When you reach a milestone or have a big win, we are excited to share your joy. When you level up in our curriculum, that’s a huge deal and we’re thrilled for all our students who meet this goal.

4. Booking and Prescribing Products

Practice makes perfect. Booking is something you might feel intimidated by right now, but school is where you shake your fears off. Ask guests, family, friends and even strangers for bookings!

Let’s be clear: you’re not selling products. You’re prescribing products, which means you’re providing a solution to someone’s very real need.

Get out there on that student salon floor and learn how to bend and warp all of your fears. You’ll find your voice to success when it comes to prescribing.

Accreditation: What it Means to Be an Accredited Cosmetology School

ac·cred·i·ta·tion

Not all beauty schools are equal, and you may feel overwhelmed when you search for the right beauty school for you. One confusing term you might run across is “accreditation.”

Accreditation is the approval a school gets from the American Association of Cosmetology Schools (AACS). The AACS reviews beauty schools to make sure all of their programs meet the highest standards of beauty education.

This means that the courses you take in cosmetology, hair care, nail care, and other subjects at an accredited school give you the most for your tuition money. It is important to know that students who apply to non-accredited schools are not always eligible for financial aid, as those schools are not required to accept the Federal Application for Student Financial Aid (FAFSA).

Choosing an accredited school means:

  • You may be eligible for federal financial aid
  • You may have an advantage in the job market because employers know that  applicants from accredited cosmetology schools are salon professionals with the quality training
  • You may have more earning potential because you are eligible to work at more places and may get paid more

In short, a degree or certificate from an accredited beauty or cosmetology school is the gold standard in beauty education.
